Rhino-Rack Has the Keys to Tailgating Success

There are a few theories floating around the world wide web as to how tailgating found its beginnings in American sporting culture. Our favourite, and what seems to make the most sense, is that Green Bay Packers fans invented tailgating in the club’s first year, 1919. The story goes that the Green Bay fans would back their pickup trucks up to the field, fold down their tailgates and feed their family and friends from the vehicle before kickoff.

Dome 1300 Awning set up for comfort.
Since 1919, tailgating is the cultural phenomenon defining NFL games around America! Sports fans from across the country arrive at parking lots hours before the game, cook up a BBQ with friends, family and throwing down some cold drinks while jabbing the opposition team with banter.

Much like the camping and the 4x4 world show, tailgating has become an opportunity for fans to show off their ability to create the best home away from home. That’s where Rhino-Rack entered the pre-game. We offer shade awnings and specifically designed dome awnings as part of our product line. Not only do we encourage this great American pastime we are part of the crew at every game. We won’t tell you who we support so you don’t think we’re biassed but a hint is that one of the pictures below features the greatest team of all time!

We’ve seen some incredible setups over the years; from TV’s in the trunk, awnings covering crowds of fans and now the Rhino-Rack Dome Awning is popping up all over the place. Rhino-Rack customers and football fans are only limited by their imagination, thirst and hunger!

Check out some of the best we’ve seen both at the games and in the wilderness.
