A new batch of Rhino-Rack executives are heading up to the Northern Territory to experience the amazing scenery and outdoor living our brand is synonymous with. As the rookies touch down on the northern red earth their counterparts are arriving back in Sydney. These tanned and bug bitten explorers have stories to tell and pictures to share.
I caught up with Export Sales Manager Johnson Mathews.Tell us about the fishing?
“We were camped 100km from Borroloola on the banks of a river. We started off using lures from the boat and off the shoreline but because weren’t having much luck. Catching live bait wasn’t an issue with our cast net so we made a live well in the camp and pumped water in to keep the bait fresh. We started catching Queen Fish mostly with a few Coral Trout in there too.”
What was your experience like?
“For me this trip started when I was in grade 7. My classmates and I were studying Australia. India seemed less exotic than this country I was doing a school project on. I drew maps of the river systems in the outback, learnt about sheep shearing, road trains and the flying doctors. I dreamt of visiting these places so this trip was a realisation of a lifelong goal. I will always thank Rhino-Rack for this opportunity.”
